Less obvious were the strips of linen wound tight around her upper body and the months she had spent perfecting her masculine disguise in the streets and marketplaces of Paris.

Expedition commander Louis-Antoine de Bougainville recorded in his journal that curious Tahitian natives exposed Baret as a woman, eighteen months into the voyage. But the true story, it turns out, is more complicated.

  千古迷局，醒世结局，看到这个书封就预感这出大戏最终还是走向悲剧。五年前刚开始看这个故事的时候只是把它当做一本悬疑小说来看，借着名画的名头。一年又一年过去，一个又一个故事慢慢展开，看着曾经熟悉的人物慢慢走向了他们的结局，慢慢的这已经不只是一个故事了，它是一个又一个人生。

  墨儿战死城头，他生前一直都执着于追寻自己天命归于何处，终于在死后找到了，事事心诚，终生不二；崔豪、刘八、耿五还有许多像他们一样的生于市井尘泥无名无姓的好汉们，在国家危难之际挺身而出，义无反顾，舍身护国成就了自己的英雄梦；呆呆的犄角儿、义气的何塞娘、丁豆娘、云夫人、管杆儿、范大牙的母亲……国家安时这些市井百姓并未得到多少善待，他们只能汲汲营营一心为着自家，国家危时他们却一心为国，倾家荡产营救他们的国君。

  有位同学在茶话会上发问，如何界定一个人是心理障碍患者还是健康的人，也就是俗话说的如何界定一个人是精神病还是正常人呢？

  这个同学提到了福柯的观点，所谓的精神病是被文化、权力建构的结果，相同的一个特征，放在不同的文化背景下，有的会被界定为疯子，有的会被当做正常人。

  我们共读的这本霍克西玛的《变态心理学》提到一个名词叫作「连续谱模型」，连续谱模型的两端是绝对的异常和绝对的健康，我们大多数人都是徘徊在中间的不同位置，只要不影响正常的工作和生活，那就是合理的。

  这让我想到这本书里讲「双向情感障碍」的章节，有些作家、艺术家都罹患了这个心理障碍，然而他们也获益于此，躁狂阶段的艺术家会文思泉涌思维敏捷，因此留下名篇佳作，这是一把双刃剑。

  人们说“艺术家都是疯子”，可以这么说也可以不是这么说，我想更合理的说法是：

  这是一种特质，而不是一种疾病。
