　　Angela Nissel was born and raised in Philadelphia, where she

graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in

medical anthropology. She later started a dotcom, Okayplayer.com,

which is still alive and well, but she left it permanently to the

care of its cofounder after The Broke Diaries was published. She

decided to pursue writing full time and finally ventured out of

Philadelphia to Hollywood.

　　Upon arriving in Hollywood, she learned that just because people

call themselves producers and say they can give you a job writing

the screenplay of your book, it doesn’t mean they can. Broke, she

put a few possessions on eBay; the winning bidder on one item was

an executive at Warner Brothers who had read The Broke Diaries and

who then introduced Nissel to her television literary agent. This

agent sent copies of The Broke Diaries to everyone hiring comedy

writers, and soon Nissel had numerous job offers. She accepted a

position as a staff writer on NBC’s medical comedy, Scrubs. She’s

been there for four years and is currently consulting producer of

the show.

　　This is the only job she’s had where her medical anthropology

degree has come in handy.

  贵倒是挺贵的，银沙不错，也没有传说中那么多莱卡工业的故事，很传统的一本企业文化宣传图册，仅此而已，唔要过高期望。

  有幸亲历了这本书从策划，研讨，到后期装帧设计的部分过程，整整两年。又因师叔委托拍摄，年初有机会再游容园。这两年间发生了太多有趣的事，宝宝，王欣，老董几位老师可以说是让我对设计还不至于迷失领路人吧：)

  出生于1867年的弗兰克·劳埃德·赖特可以说是美国最重要的建筑大师，也被誉为世界现代建筑四位大师之一。歌德曾说“建筑是凝固的音乐”，赖特本人非常赞同。赖特很喜欢音乐，特别是贝多芬，他曾自称是“建筑界的贝多芬”。

  近日，这位建筑大师的自传《一部自传：弗兰克·劳埃德·赖特》（以下简称《一部自传》）中文版由上海人民出版社出版，为喜欢赖特建筑作品的中国读者提供了一扇了解赖特的窗口。

  电影般的精彩人生

  “丰盛即美”。

  英国诗人威廉·布莱克的这句诗是赖特92年人生的最好注解。

  从1926年起的数年时间里，由于经济大萧条和赖特本人的私生活原因，赖特几乎没有建筑项目可做。也是这时候，赖特接受了夫人的建议，开始写作《一部自传》。

  说起《一部自传》，本书译者、中国人民大学艺术学院讲师杨鹏很赞同一位朋友对它的评价：“这是一个精彩的电影剧本。”

  杨鹏进一步解释，“说它是电影剧本首先也是因为书中呈现出赖特本人的人生经历就令人目不暇接：顶着烈日锄草放牛的少年、校园舞会上出丑的大学生，在东京的陋巷里搜买浮世绘的艺术商，三次婚姻中的丈夫，七个子女的父亲，涉及私奔、火灾、谋杀、诱拐和破产而频频见报的社会名人，监狱铁窗下熬过寒夜的被告，驾驶着敞篷车横穿半个美国的花甲老者……”

  其次，杨鹏认为本书像是电影剧本的另一个原因便是赖特的行文笔法。“作者借鉴了他所崇拜的大文豪雨果的惯用笔法。雨果的每一部小说，都像带有完整分镜头的电影剧本。《一部自传》也和《悲惨世界》《巴黎圣母院》一样充满鲜活的人物、精彩的对话，当然也屡屡出现大段雨果式的抽象议论。”

  赖特的精彩更在于他作为建筑师的人生。在60多年的建筑师生涯中，赖特共设计了1100座建筑，包括“流水别墅”和纽约古根海姆博物馆在内的25件作品被美国政府列为“国家历史名胜”。

  赖特的独特傲慢

  自上大学时期便将赖特视为自己偶像的杨鹏，到中国人民大学任教之前也是一名建筑师。同赖特一样，杨鹏也认为建筑是世界上最伟大（没有之一）的艺术领域。

  “建筑师是综合了科学与艺术的行业，建筑的背后有着强大的科学支撑。”杨鹏说，“走进古埃及的神庙，你难以想象在4000年前这些重达数吨的石柱如何被稳固地立起来，每个时代的杰出建筑都代表着这个时代最先进的技术。这样的‘艺术’，自然不是风花雪月可以与之媲美的。”

  《一部自传》完稿时赖特已经75岁，当其他同龄人都思考着将如何安度晚年时，赖特却正准备迎来事业的又一个高峰。因为此时，他所有建成作品中的大约三分之一，尚未开始设计。所以本书中读者无缘看到包括古根海姆博物馆等许多杰作是如何创作的。

  然而这在杨鹏看来并不是种遗憾。“因为在赖特生命中最后十几年里，荣耀与成功如潮而来。但丰盛的生活才是他追求的终极目标。所以我们也可以理解为什么这本书里详尽地介绍了他野餐带了哪些食物，而对‘流水别墅’这一杰作却是一笔带过。”

  在杨鹏看来，本书最为难得的地方便是保持了行文与主人公本身的一致性，在语言、写作等方面带有很强的赖特风格。

  “如果你了解赖特就会发现，这样的写作方式和语言习惯是赖特独有的特征，《一部自传》的文字与他的气质高度一致。”杨鹏说，“每句话里都带有赖特特有的语气和与他本人一样独特的傲慢。”

  “在国外，针对赖特的研究成果数不胜数，甚至对于他某件作品、某件作品中建筑装饰的分析，都足以成为博士论文课题，发表成学术专著。”杨鹏说，“但本书是探究赖特思想和人生的最佳线索。特别是文中赖特写于80年前的预言已经变为现实：行人无路可走而汽车只能慢慢蠕动，拥挤的地铁和公共汽车剥夺了人们最起码的尊严。”

  然而杨鹏也指出，国内有关赖特的研究却几乎空白。“赖特的这本自传在国外一直是长销书，很早就有日文、法文和德文等各种版本。此次中文版的出版也填补了国内有关赖特学术研究的空白。特别是中文版书封沿用了英文版的原版封面，在每一卷前面保留了赖特亲自设计的线条图案。”
