  杜葉錫恩有句話非常深刻，她在戰後本來想到中國傳教，一是傳遞教義，二是傳送知識。杜葉來到中國之後覺得反而是自己在這裡的人身上學到很多東西，很多傳教士來到中國住大屋食好的覺得自己離開本國來到東方這些落後地方應該得到補償。杜葉續說，那時候還有個叫白求恩的西人，他不是傳教士，但是為了救人而犧牲，因為這些經歷見聞，杜葉錫恩加深了與教會的距離。後來她又來到香港，見到教會的人總是覺得自己高人一等，認為本地人不用好像教會的人的子女那樣讀中學小學覺得只要向他們傳教義就夠了不用教他們知識。六七以前的香港，貪腐問題、種族歧視、欺壓窮人，這些問題都是非常嚴重。杜葉的我眼中的殖民地時代的香港講香港歷史，不熟港史的話未必能夠吸收到那麼多，反而這本講戰後香港洋人有些什麼特權以及他們是怎樣看不起華人，這些對比刻劃直接明暸。

  像又上了一次语文课，第一次弄懂押韵这件事

  最近读书少，最打动我的是这个儿童绘本。能够把人生的世态炎凉讲给孩子听，作者真是有胆识，有勇气。

  这个故事并不复杂，一株小橡树，结了果子，但是因为他还年轻，结出的果子没熟透，动物们都不喜欢吃，都说小橡树吹牛逼，集体冷淡他。小橡树一蹶不振，自认是个没有人格魅力的人，兼具社交恐惧症。后来一只小松鼠在小橡树上安了家，还要跟他做朋友。小橡树说你走吧，我是个不招人待见的主儿，果子不好吃，人缘不好，你跟我一起玩，当心别人也都嫌弃你。但是小松鼠不离不弃，一心一意做他的小伙伴。然后剧情就非常浪漫地转折了，小橡树越长越壮，褪去了青涩，枝繁叶茂，长出了累累硕果，味道香甜极了，动物们都跑来攒局，对他赞不绝口，大家又成了好朋友，相亲相爱一家人。

  合上这本书，我重重叹了口气，这哪儿是什么让人相信友情相信温暖的书，这根本就是对成人世界那点子最肮脏下流的势利眼的犀利揭露。

  先说说树林里那帮小动物，吃了小橡树的果子不满意就开始群殴，造谣中伤，冷淡疏远 ，一副“你没用我就不鸟你”的样子。而小橡树变成熟、变“有用”之后，他们又欢天喜地聚拢来，像不曾远离过一样，分享他的胜利果实，空谈些友爱和善良。以利相交，利尽则散。这群锦上添花的动物，无论画得多天真可爱，内心也不过是这样的无爱一族。

  再说说小橡树，他像极了一个理想主义的年轻人，来不及经历沧桑就捧出自己的一腔赤诚给大家分享。他并不懂得，这个世界重视利害远多过善恶；他并不懂得，付出并不一定有回报甚至反而会招致祸端。多少浪漫骑士向往的是单刀赴会，最后只得声名狼藉铩羽而归。当然，没必要哀叹社会不公人心不古，因为社会从来没公平过，古人也未必就是好心肠。

  这样，才显出那只小松鼠的可贵。没有人知道小松鼠为什么偏偏选择了小橡树。说不定他也是他的组群里受过欺凌虐待的一只，遇到了惺惺相惜的另一只。总之，他们克服了最初的戒备和误解，患难与共，一同走过了艰难岁月，迎来大好时光。我甚至腹黑地想，这本书换成成年人的故事版本，小橡树一定会抛弃小松鼠，在新的粉丝群中找一只更漂亮更年轻的做伴侣。还好，童话是给小孩子看的，在众多阴暗面中，有光亮的种子存在。即使是微光，也足以照亮人性。

  所以我很喜欢这本书，以后我有了小孩，我会给他讲这个故事。我希望他问我：“妈妈，他们为什么不喜欢小橡树？如果我是小橡树，我还会跟那些曾经抛弃我的人做朋友吗？如果我被人嫌弃，是不是因为我不够好？小松鼠对我那么好，我该怎样报答他？”每个问题都可以写出新的故事，而他漫长的一生，都将找寻最佳答案。
