  A2等级的阅读，并不难，改编的内容比较零散吧，也不是很喜欢读这种类型的故事，但是练习阅读是没啥问题的

  科普不错，就是笨重了些。不过此书最大的槽点在于，尽管封面装帧、版式纸张、色彩搭配等的设计都十分精心甚至刻意了，却在胶水的选用上失之眉睫。以至于，在出版没几年之后，当读者拿到实物时，将很遗憾地看到书芯与封面早已分道扬镳，每篇文章首页的设计师简介附纸也摇摇欲坠……反过来说，如果胶水的质量是不可控的，那么，在前面这些精心之处做做减法或许更好。

          基本上是不错的地图册，图示也做得很简略易看，缺憾可能是书不是彩页的，不够精致。只可惜我英国历史还只是有个大概的印象，很多图看不来。而近代以来的一些地图，有些又显得过于琐碎了些，比如1992年的私人慈善活动和公共福利，1993年的长期失业情况，在现在看来也没什么意义，过于陈旧。

  小时候吃荔枝，印象最深的是听大人讲“妃子笑”的故事——唐玄宗为了讨杨贵妃欢心，命令用快骑千里传送荔枝，让她在北方京都仍然能吃到新鲜的南方荔枝。“长安回望绣成堆，山顶千门次第开。

  一骑红尘妃子笑

  ，无人知是荔枝来。”杜牧的这首诗画面感如此之强，经母亲一句句讲解，眼前立刻浮现出一骑绝尘快马冲进长安城的景象。从此，这首诗连同“妃子笑”这个名字，成了我对唐朝的最初印象。对于很多孩子来说，古诗词就是进入中华文化浩瀚宝库的领路人，确实是功不可没。

  当然，只从这个角度了解中华文化，似乎还是太单一了。童年的我对这个故事还有很多好奇，我想知道，那时从产荔枝的南国到京都长安到底有多远？快马要跑几天？据说要日夜不停地跑，那马累了怎么办？换马换人，是谁在路上等着信使……这一连串的问题当时并没有得到解答。大人们热衷于让我们背诵古诗文，给我们讲有文学色彩的历史故事，但很少带我们看地图、讲故事真实发生的场景，结果是，直接导致了日后我只对文学情有独钟而觉得历史和地理索然无味。

  长大后，读到一些对这个典故的考证，才发现这个故事并不简单，很考验相关的历史地理知识储备。首先，从哪里采摘的荔枝？当时盛产荔枝的有广东和四川，广东岭南荔枝更有名（苏东坡的诗“日啖荔枝三百颗，不辞长做岭南人”为此佐证，你看，又是诗！），后人一度认为杨贵妃吃到的荔枝产于那里，但后来经过地理测算，从岭南到长安两千多公里，再快的飞马也要十来日方能到，荔枝早就不新鲜了。而从四川的涪州，也就是今天重庆的涪陵地区到长安将近一千公里，八百里加急应在两三天内到达。这才发现，读历史，还需要从地理上去认知真相，这样才能还原事件现场，读到活生生的、真实可信的历史。

  至于执行递送任务的驿传系统，那更是一套复杂的组织结构，关系到疆域辽阔的国家如何进行有效的管理。中国古代的驿传系统很完善，保证了庞大的社会体系稳定地运转。这个系统从春秋战国时期就开始初步成熟，到唐代，与境外各国的交流频繁，对交通的需求日益上升，驿传系统已经很发达了。在这本《给孩子的历史地理》中，倒没有考证“荔枝道”的细节，但是收录了具有代表性的汉代一处大驿站的遗址复原图，这是在甘肃敦煌市发现的，叫悬泉置，是一座方形小城堡的规模，遥想当年，这里接待了多少丝绸之路上的行者，连接起广袤大地上的交通和政治经济繁荣。

  一个“妃子笑”的故事引出这么多史地背景知识，而这往往是我们忽略给孩子讲解的知识体系。说起五千年华夏文明，我们除了能屈指数出多少个朝代、多少个历史人物，如果还能讲一讲华夏文明是如何起源的，作为大地域文明是怎么大起来的，疆域如此辽阔的国家是如何运转的，不同地区的地理和生活方式差别是如何形成文化风俗的……而这些，正是中华文明形成过程中不同于其他文明的最核心部分，是我们认识华夏文明必不可少的路径。为此，北大著名历史地理教授唐晓峰先生专为青少年撰写了这本《给孩子的历史地理》，作为了解华夏文明的入门读本。

  这里的“历史地理”，指的是历史中的地理，它今天已经发展成一门学科，是研究文明的一种方法。它并不是历史知识和地理知识的简单相加，而是在地理上“复盘”文明发展的历程，把华夏历史的推进和演变，汇聚在辽阔的大地上，在时间和空间的交集中，呈现立体的和动态的中国历史。经过这种方法的连贯，许多以往略知一二的文史知识就变得完整和丰满了，进而构成我们对中华文明认知的体系。

  翻阅这本书，会发现地理一点都不枯燥，大地上发生的故事都是有生命的。比如知道禹迹、九州是华夏的代名词，这还不够，你还要知道，原来它们代表了早年华夏的地理范围，九州顾名思义就是华夏有九个州，包括黄河流域、长江流域的大部分地区，是华夏文明最核心的地区。“州”这个字从甲骨文起就有，指水泊中的陆地，那就是古时候人群的居住地，所以古时地点都以州命名。

  而“州”周边的那些水泊，也沉淀着很多故事，著名的如华北平原上的“梁山泊”“白洋淀”……这样一来，九州就不只是一个枯燥的地理名词了吧。再比如，围绕着另一种标准，还有一种分区方法：五服。那是以皇权为中心，根据对周边文明程度高低的想象，由内而外分出的五个区域。

  “五服”表现了古代人的地域价值观：中心具有最高价值。这一价值观体现在整个华夏文明史中，你到今天还能感知到。还有，山水审美，是中国特有的地理文化，中国人的地理知识里面包括一个美学角度的概念：名胜，这与当下每个人的生活都有相关度。

  如果你对这些知识点或者这套话语体系还比较陌生，那么，确实应该补上华夏文明的历史地理这一课了。而且，引导孩子进入这个认知世界尤为重要。让孩子们不仅仅从文学中认识中华文明，还要从历史的源头、从华夏大地开始他们的知识之旅。
