• 画风很赞 人物更活灵活现

        原来就很关注《凤囚凰》这部小说，特别喜欢容止和楚玉，现在终于出了漫画版，感觉人物更活灵活现了，那一句“一见容止终误身，不见容止终身误”真真切切的让我感受到了容止君的魅力呀。看看他那飘逸的长发，看看那清冷的面孔，真叫人不能自己呀！

        猫君大大的画风很赞，古风古韵，整本书景色和人物的视觉效果都很棒，现在我越来越喜欢这本书了，希望更多的小说可以改成漫画。

• A Literary Masturbation

  Whenever I read a novel, I'd like to visualize it as a film in my mind. Yet for this book I can't. It is rather like a series of noncontinuous pictures of the narrator's life events, random thoughts and an overwhelming fantasy. Refreshing, I would say, but not in the positive way.

  Frankly speaking, I'm fairly disappointed by the core story about Dean and his lover. I feel like I'm reading the snapshots of a tactful prostitute and her client. The narrator uses a massive amount of descriptions on how they make love, how she is obedient and trying different ways to please him. As for the spiritual or emotional communication except sex, there is zero. I'm not convinced by such "love" despite what Dean claims. As a matter of fact, Dean seems to dislike every other aspect of her, e.g. her imperfect English, her low-class eating habits, her bad taste on books. The whole affair seems hypocritical to me.

  On writing, the book appears to be very well handled. The writer clearly has his own literary style. He's able to use simple language to create concrete images, and their France is vividly portrayed in the text. However, the narrative voice is very ambiguous, even confusing. He seems to be an omniscient eye of the story, but he is also involved in it. He admits his unreliability as a storyteller, but he uses such a certain tone, as if he has witnessed it all. Besides, what's the point of shifting the point of view between his life and Dean's? These are the questions I want to discuss.
