  I have never wondered where people will go after they die. And I sincerely hope their soul will rest in peace if it ever exists. People might reborn after their death. The thought of reincarnation simply makes me shiver. Death is always a scary thing to most people. What Don Piper has experienced was much more than I could imagine.

  He was crashed by a semi-truck on the way he drove from a minister’s conference. He died instantly, according to the medical staff on the spot. A minister came to the site and prayed for his life. 90 minutes later, he was brought back to life. He claimed that during those 90 minutes, he caught a glimpse of heaven. The sight was astoundingly beautiful and breathtaking. He was warmly welcomed by his relatives and friends who died before him. So when he opened his eyes and learned that he was badly injured in the accident, he yearned to go back to heaven.

  He endured a longtime and painful recovery, which put him into deep depression. In the meantime, his family and friends, even strangers, came to pray for him. But he just cut himself off from everyone else. In great distress and agony, he wondered why he just sensed the unparalleled beauty and the next second he had to go back to earth suffering. Don Piper then searched for the meaning of God sending him back to earth. He was aware that there was a purpose. He learned to accept other people’s kindness and shared his experience with people who were trapped in the similar situation. In fact, coming back to life was not the only miracle happened to Don Piper. Several times during the operations, people thought they were going to lose him, but he held on there. And that extremely painful attempt to be on foot again worked out eventually.

  Honestly, the view from heaven didn’t talk me into it. I guess that’s because I’m not a convinced believer. But I really admire that Don had faith and abided by it. Every time I read the story of how people strived to live, I was deeply impressed and thought that how on earth would people take their own lives when there are numerous opportunities ahead of them. I don’t deny that under some special circumstances, people even legitimize their willingness to die. However, some reasons are pretty absurd and idiotic. It’s a shame that life was despised in such a way. Man would think of death some time in their lives, but they seldom choose to die. That’s because deep down inside, life is our greatest wish. I suppose that reading books like this at times is a good reminder of how priceless and vulnerable life is.
